Nectarines can be kept at room temperature to soften, but they do not continue to ripen once picked so leaving them at room temperature will not increase their sweetness. Nectarines can be stored in the fridge uncovered for up to a week.
Preparation Tip: To peel a nectarine, blanch it in boiling water for 30-60 seconds then remove with a slotted spoon. Once the fruit is cool the skin should slip off.
Did you know... The nectarine was named after the Greek god Nekter, and its juice was later called nectar, the drink of the gods.
