White Wave Inc. White Wave Inc.
Broomfield, CO
As founder and president of White Wave, Steve Demos set out to pursue “business without guilt.” Along the way, he created the leading soyfoods company in the country. (Back in '77, that seemed about as likely as computers in people's homes and movies on little plastic discs.)

But was he satisfied? Are you kidding? Steve is never satisfied. (A quality that makes it a real pain to have him over for dinner.) So after perfecting his tofu, Steve set his sights on soymilk.

Steve was convinced that there was no reason why soymilk had to taste like ground-up pencil erasers mixed with milk of magnesia. He was certain soymilk could taste good. So he set out to prove it. And he did.

White Wave introduced Silk Soymilk in 1996. Silky-smooth, delicious and oh-so-easy on the taste buds, Silk began taking over refrigerators and breakfast tables throughout the known universe. Maybe it's the flavor. Maybe it's the silky-creamy-rich smoothness. Maybe it's just destiny. But Silk is now the best-selling soymilk in the country.

White Wave has been supporting family farmers for over twenty-five years by buying their soybeans from U.S. farms that practice sustainable agriculture. They are also committed to the environment and their community, and support such events as the Undo It campaign (against global warming), the 2004 Stonyfield Farm Strong Women Summit with Dr. Miriam Nelson, and the Breast Cancer Foundation Race for the Cure® series.
