Mogiana Coffee
Our traditions began in 1890 when our great grandfather started our family’s first coffee farm in Brazil. His dedication to superior quality coffee and sustainability has carried over into our company’s core values today. Mogiana Coffee is much more than just coffee, we are about connection, sustainability, family, and a passion for the finest specialty coffee beans.
A key component of our farm is its workers, which is why we find social responsibility to be a crucial part in successful operations. Over the generations we have developed a community on our land that includes housing, schooling, and many other amenities for our employees. We also strongly believe in environmental responsibility, which is why our farm has been powered by the nearby waterfall since the 1950’s, keeping us off the power grid for 11 months a year. All wastewater is treated to avoid pollution, and dried coffee husks are used to power the processing equipment. The use of renewable energy ultimately helps us remain as sustainable as possible and keeps the land around the farm in great condition so that we can continue to produce outstanding coffee.
Most of our high quality Arabica beans are sourced directly from our family’s farm in Brazil. Located on the lush soil of the Mogiana Valley, the farm offers exceptional growing conditions that allow for a special varietal - called Bourbon - to grow. The full body, low acidity, and smooth finish are some of the traits that make this varietal so favourable. Once in Vancouver our coffee beans are roasted with care in small batches to ensure freshness. Our commitment to preserving quality and tradition is one of our biggest priorities as a growing company and a point of pride that we embrace each day. This is why we say our coffee isn’t just fairly traded, it’s Family Traded. We work hard to deliver sustainably produced, locally roasted coffee that tastes amazing!
