These are the ingredients to create 4 delicious batches of Hummus, each about 1 to 1 1/2 cups, for you and your loved ones to enjoy fresh at home!

Simply drain the chick peas, place in blender with some lemon juice and tahini, then grab some salt and pepper, olive oil and your favourite spices from your cupboard (or we have some if you need more!) and blend. Serve with crackers or crisp veggies for dipping. Detailed recipe and variations are below.

Basic Hummus Recipe

Makes about 1 to 1.5 cups

INGREDIENTS:
- 1/4 cup lemon juice, about 1 large lemon
- 1/4 cup tahini
- 1-2 medium garlic cloves, minced or crushed
- approx 2-3 Tbsp olive oil (plus more for serving)
- 1/2 to 1 tsp kosher salt, depending on taste
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin, or to taste (optional)
- 1/2 tsp ground pepper, or to taste (optional)
- One 14-19 ounce can chick peas, rinsed (aka: garbanzo beans)
- approx 2-3 Tbsp water (or more olive oil)
- Dash of ground paprika for serving

METHOD:
1. Place lemon juice, tahini and garlic into a food processor and blend for about 30 seconds. Scrape sides with spatula and add olive oil and spices, then blend again for 30 seconds. Scrape sides a second time and process for another 30 seconds. This will help to make a creamier hummus.
2. Add half of the chick peas (and any other desired flavouring - see below for details) to the processor and blend for about 1 minute. Scrape sides, add the other half and blend again for another minute. Check consistency. If too thick, add 1 Tbsp water (or more olive oil) while blending. Repeat until desired consistency is reached.
3. Remove from blender and place in storage container. Hummus can be stored in the fridge for up to 1 week.
4. When serving, place in bowl and allow hummus to reach room temperature. Drizzle olive oil on top and sprinkle paprika over that. Garnish and serve with items for dipping.



A Few Other Flavours:

Artichoke
- 1/2 to 1 cup Artichoke Hearts

Caramelized Onions
- 1/3 to 1/2 cup Caramelized Onions blended in
- then 1/4 cup Caramelized Onions on top when serving

Greek
- 1/2 cup Baby Spinach,
- 1 small pinch Cinnamon instead of cumin,
- then 1/2 cup Feta stirred in at end

Olive Hummus
- 1/2 cup Olives, at least half added near the end to keep a few chunks
- 1 small pinch Cayenne instead of cumin,
- then 1/2 cup Feta stirred in at end

Pesto
- 2-3 Tbsp Pesto
- 1 Tbsp Parmesan

Roasted Red Peppers
- 1/3 to 1/2 cup Roasted Red Peppers

Roasted Garlic
- 1/4 to 1/3 cup Roasted Garlic

Sundried Tomato
- 1/4 cup Sundried Tomatoes
