A classic for a reason! This Margherita features a delicious homemade (by you!) cherry tomato sauce with fresh basil and creamy buffalo mozzarella.

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:

  • PREP
    Preheat the oven to 425F. Leave pizza shells on the counter to come to room temp. Separate the basil leaves from the stems (keeping both leaves and stems). Crush the garlic. Slice the mozzarella balls.
  • MAKE THE SAUCE
    In a small saucepan, add the can of tomatoes, olive oil, crushed garlic, salt, pepper, basil stems (and optional crushed chillies and onion powder). Simmer on the stove until reduced by 1/3, about 15 minutes. You should end up with about 1 cup sauce. Once the sauce is cooked, carefully remove the basil stems. Chop or tear the basil leaves.
  • ASSEMBLE THE PIZZAS
    Brush each pizza shell with olive oil (optional). Divide the tomato sauce between the two shells and spread it evenly across the surface of the shell, leaving about an inch from the edge bare. Do the same with the sliced cheese and half of the basil (save half the basil for after the pizzas are cooked).
  • BAKE
    Bake both pizzas directly on the oven racks for 12-15 minutes. Use a pair of tongs and a sheet pan to support the pizzas while taking them out of the oven. They’re hot! Immediately add the remaining chopped basil evenly between the two pizzas.
