Local Organic Apples, BC Apple Sampler

This sampler is made of a rotating selection of apples, varying with the different cultivars growing seasons. The box will always include at least 10 lbs of at least 4 different types of BC grown apples, which means there will always be more than 25 apples in a box.

The apple is one of the most widely cultivated tree fruits, and a member of the rose familys. Apples grow on deciduous trees which originated in Central Asia, where its wild ancestor, Malus sieversii, is still found today. Apples have been grown for thousands of years in Asia and Europe, and were brought to North America by European colonists. They have been present in the mythology and religions of many cultures, including Norse, Greek and Christian traditions.

There are more than 7,500 known cultivars of apples, resulting in a range of desired characteristics. Different cultivars are bred for various tastes and uses, including cooking, eating raw and cider production. This week's Apple Sampler may contain a selection of the following apples: Ambrosia, Fuji, Gala, Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, McIntosh, Pinata, or Pink Lady Apples.
