Established in 1836, Ridgways was honored with the Royal Warrant in 1886 for the development of "Her Majesty's Tea Blend" and this has held on ever since. Committed to delivering high quality tea, Ridgways has been working closely with tea producers and consumers to develop delicious teas that are both fair trade and organically grown.
Ridgways fair-trade tea comes directly from tea plantations in Southern India and Africa. Uniquely, the Ridgways company regularly inspects its tea plantations through its Quality Assurance Project to ensure no compromises are made on product quality or on working conditions for tea pickers and their families. The comprehensive inspection program guarantees strict ethical standards are maintained (housing, safe working conditions, education, healthcare, fair pay etc.) and as a consequence is fully endorsed by the Fair Trade foundation.
Organically grown tea uses only the freshest leaves from tea bushes that are allowed to grow slowly and naturally, without artificial chemicals and pesticides. The result is a light, fresh blend that in its small way contributes to the quality of life on this planet. Ridgways Organically grown tea is supported by the Organic Growers Association and the Soil Association, two organizations dedicated to supporting and encouraging methods of cultivation and farming wherein all chemicals and fertilizers are replaced by organically made and obtained manure.
