Muir Glen.
Muir Glen first introduced its line of organic tomato products in 1991. They began with a small selection of stewed tomatoes, chopped tomatoes, tomato sauce and tomato paste. Since then, Muir Glen has expanded to offer more than 70 products including pasta sauces, salsas and ketchup.
Muir Glen tomatoes are grown on a network of organic tomato farms located in the California Central Valley. These farms ship their quality tomatoes directly to the Muir Glen cannery, so the tomatoes typically spend less than 8 hours between being picked and being canned. At the cannery, all of the equipment is triple rinsed with a high-pressure washer to make sure that all cleaning agents are removed. Then the tomatoes are steam peeled, processed and canned in lead-free enamel lined cans. All of the packaging is recyclable and the labels are printed on recycled paper.
Muir Glen tomatoes are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or growth regulators and the sweetness of the tomatoes is tested throughout the growing season to ensure that only the best tasting tomatoes will be used in Muir Glen products.
