Natracare
Bristol, UK
For over 15 years, Natracare has been trusted by women seeking a chemical-free choice in tampons, pads and femimine wipes. Natracare Organic cotton tampons and chemical free pads are high quality products made from only pure and natural materials that are not chlorine bleached and are free of rayon, plastics, and other similar synthetic materials that have a negative impact on our environment.
In 1989, a British national network television program, "The World in Action", drew attention to the effect of dioxin pollution, its major source of production and the part it played in sanitary protection manufacture. The program so appalled some women that they chose to boycott chlorine bleached sanitary pads and tampons and to demand change. One woman by the name of Susie Hewson was determined to develop a non-chlorine bleached range of sanitary pads and tampons. She looked at the consumer's real needs and the implications of those needs on the environment. It was clear to her that an alternative choice for women and the environment would be one that addressed the problem of dioxins. The decision to use pure cotton fibers in an all-cotton tampon meant that they could avoid the use of chlorine bleaching and unnecessary additives.
Consequently, Natracare brand was launched in Britain in April, 1989. In 1991, they launched Natracare in Canada and New Zealand. At the beginning of 1992, Natracare was being sold in the rest of Europe. Natracare was made available to women in the USA as of September, 1993, and today they are established as the leader in natural feminine protection worldwide.
In order to advance a well-balanced view of all the pieces to the puzzle concerning menstrual health, Natracare embraces independent research so that women are afforded the opportunity to make informed choices about sanitary protection.
Natracare also uses no pulp from ancient, endangered North American forests - only pulp from a forest-managed Scandanavian mill.
