General information
Storage Tip: Store a pineapple at room temperature away from direct sunlight for a day or two to reduce the acidity( but this won't increase sweetness). A pineapple tastes better at room temperature but if you are not planning to eat it right away, store in plastic in the refrigerator for a day or two. Cutting into pieces and storing in its own juice, it will keep for up to a week.

Preparation Tip: Slice the top and bottom off the pineapple then stand pineapple up on a cutting board and pare off the skin with long lengthwise cuts from top to bottom.

Did you know... Pineapples contain the enzymes bromelain which is an anti-inflammatory agent, and so can be used for sports injury, trauma, arthritis, and other kinds of swelling. Its main uses are treatment of athletic injuries, digestive problems, phlebitis, sinusitis, and aiding healing after surgery.

Culinary Compatibility: Try with meats on a kebob, as a salsa, in a smoothie or a cheesecake.

Health Information: One cup of diced pineapple contains 75 calories and is an excellent source of vitamin C. It is also a source of potassium, thiamin, and dietary fibre.
