Honeybar
HoneyBars are 100% Canadian made with unpasteurized honey and the finest, freshest ingredients. The HoneyBar was invented by retired baker, Frank Sardelis in 1987. In his retirement, Frank decided to use his experience as a baker to create a snack bar similar to a type of snack bar he had remembered eating as a boy in Greece. He began making the bars in his kitchen until, upon his wifes suggestion, he moved to the basement for more space. Not long after setting up production in his basement, Frank again found himself lacking in space. So, he and his daughter Mary moved the operation into a warehouse, equipped with a wrapping machine, new production equipment and two HoneyBar recipes. Business continued to grow and eventually, Mary took over the business from her ailing father. She continued to invent new recepies and expand the bars distribution up until 1997 when she sold the company to two couples, the Spaldings and the Storms. The couples were "interested in this company from the start because of the high quality, the incomparable taste, the homemade look and the ready acceptance by the customers." The two couples established HoneyBar Products International Inc.and continue to produce Honeybars with the same integrity and innovation that Mary and Frank initiated.
Honeybars provide a natural source of energy which is a longer lasting energy than that provided by products that are sweetened artificially. The glucose and fructose in honey are predigested by the bees who produce it. These simple sugars are quickly and easily absorbed in the human digestive tract, and they produce an overall soothing effect. Plus, honey is never contaminated by environmental toxins because the bees act as natural biological filters. A bee dies when it comes in contact with toxins, thus it cannot bring contaminated pollen back to the hive to make honey.
