Manitoba Harvest is based on a drive to promote health & wellness, as well as fostering positive change for community and the environment. The idea began with Mike Fata being introduced to hemp foods back in 1995. At the time he was over 300 lbs and unable to live the active lifestyle he wanted to live.
This introduction to hemp foods soon made Mike a dedicated advocate - as he says, "Before long, I had enough natural energy to climb a mountain…and a message to spread once I got there!" It was from that energy and message that, together with friends Martin Moravcik and Alex Chwaiewsky, the idea of Manitoba Harvest was born.
Originally a major part of the drive to legalize industrial hemp in Canada, today Manitoba Harvest is proud to have become the largest vertically integrated hemp foods manufacturer in the world, priding themselves on maintaining quality from seed to shelf. With the success of hemp legalization, they moved on to manufacture & market the highest quality hemp food products, to educate on nutritional & environmental benefits of hemp, and to support sustainability in all that they do.
Now recognized around the world as a leader in the hemp industry, Manitoba Harvest sets the benchmark for quality. Others have taken note of their accomplishments as well. Some of the awards won by Manitoba Harvest include: Social Responsible Business Award from New Hope (2006), 100 Fastest Growing Companies in Canada (for 5 years), Company of the Year from Food Processors Association (2010), and Organic Achievement Award at the CHFA (2010).
