Emmenthal is a firm cheese from the region of Bern, Switzerland. Riddled with holes, it is beloved for its sweet aroma and a fruity, pungent flavor that is very similar to Gruyere (they're both produced in the same region) and a texture that is firm but pliable. Lovely when used as a table cheese or paired with fruit, Emmenthal is also a perfect fondue cheese because of its beautiful melting properties.
