If you're looking for genuine European bread baked the traditional way, look no further than Artisan Bake Shoppe. Master baker Markus Jaeger, who is from Mannheim, Germany and Ursula Baker, a native of the "Dreiländereck" near Lindau where Germany, Austria and Switzerland meet, jointly run the popular bakery. Markus had been Artisan's head baker ever since his arrival in Canada.

Ursula has an equally impressive background and was voted "Germany's Best Baker" in 2000. She now also looks after the pastry side of the business.

Their breads are crafted by hand using the most basic of natural ingredients, leavened with natural starters and little or no yeast. The long fermentation process gives the breads their unique flavour and texture. Baked in a hearth oven, they have distinctively delicious crusts. From the ancient grain bread to their raspberry white chocolate loaf, you’re sure to enjoy Markus and Ursula’s work!
