London Broil

  • 1 large flank steak (sometimes labelled as London Broil)
  • 2 Tbsp coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 2 tsp coarse ground black pepper
  • 3 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp grated ginger

1)To prepare a London Broil, one needs to marinate the steak from 30 minutes to overnight. Mix the coconut oil, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar and honey with the garlic, ginger and black pepper. The amounts of the marinade can be altered to taste.
2)Pound the steak to tenderize it somewhat, if desired. Place the steak in a close fitting but deep dish and pour the marinade over. Let sit until ready to cook.
3)Heat your grill or pan to high. Cook the steak hot and fast to no more than medium - medium rare is the best to aim for, approx 3-5 minutes per side, depending on thickness of the steak.
4)Remove from the heat and let the steak sit for 5 minutes, then carve.
