Directions:

Fresh bread over a camp fire! Stick bread is perfect for twisting around sticks and cooking over the fire. Wrap it around chicken sausages, marshallows or chunks of chocolate. This is really fun...use your imagination for mix-ins and toppings that would go well with your evening around the camp fire.

Brush a large bowl with oil or spray it with cooking spray. Mix warm water with honey. Sprinkle the yeast over; stir to dissolve. Let stand until mixture bubbles, about 7-10 minutes. Transfer yeast mixture to a large mixing bowl. Combine flour, salt and 4 1/2 Tbl. of olive oil. Mix well (this can also be done in a food processor; process 1 minute). After mixing well, knead the dough on a floured surface until it becomes very soft and elastic. Transfer the dough to the oiled bowl and turn to coat. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap making sure there is room for the dough to rise. Place in a warm, draft-free area until doubled in volume.

Prepare the roasting sticks....just like the good 'ol marshmallow sticks, and build the fire.

Punch down the dough. If you are transporting the dough to a campfire you can place it in the refrigerator which will stop the rising. Trasport the dough chilled in the bowl.

When it's time to cook the bread over the fire, pull off small chunks of the dough and roll it out in your hands like a snake. Spiral the dough around the sticks and cook it over the fire.

You can add things like cinnamon and sugar for a desser stick bread. Mix in chocolate chips, marshmallows, or take a fruit spread to top off the sweet dough.
