  • 1 c red lentils
  • 4 c water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, half-ring slices
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • cilantro
  • 1 tsp finely grated ginger
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • coconut oil

1)Thoroughly wash and drain lentils.
2)Combine water, lentils, salt, turmeric and cayenne in a saucepan and bring to boil.
3)Simmer until lentils are soft (40 min).
4)In a pan heat oil add ginger, garlic and onion. Stir until golden (4 min).
5)Add pepper cumin continue cooking for 2 min.
6)Combine spices into lentils and mix well.
7)Add cilantro to taste immediately before serving.
