Agro Roasters is an artisan specialty coffee roaster and café located in Strathcona, Vancouver. Locally owned and operated by Dusty Smith and Marina Castro, Agro buys, roasts and sells organic coffee that is ethically sourced and of top-quality.
Dusty's experience in the coffee industry is extensive. As Salt Spring Coffee's former Director of Coffee, Dusty was responsible for all aspects of production and procurement of green beans. He travelled throughout Central and South America, visiting coffee farms and Co-ops to select the best coffee available, and to get to know and understand the needs of the farmers.
Prior to his position as Director of Coffee, Dusty held different roles in Operations, Facilities, Production and Supply Chain at Salt Spring Coffee.
When Dusty heard that Agro Roasters were planning on selling the business, he and Marina talked and realized it was their turn to venture out on their own, and bought Agro Roasters.
As one of only 20 licensed Q-Graders in Canada, the equivalent for coffee as a sommelier for wine, Dusty knows how to evaluate and most of all source top quality green coffee beans.
