In 1992 the Ukrainian Ethnic Group put on a 100th year celebration of organized Ukrainian Clubs, held in conjunction with Vancouver's PNE theme Ukrainian Days. Initially, the group planned to make their own perogies, but through successful mass media advertising, Ukrainian Days became an immediate success, putting the demand for perogies far beyond the amount that the Ukrainian Ethnic Group had anticipated. Because of this huge demand, they had to find an emergency alternative supply that would equal the homemade quality of authentic Ukrainian perogies. The Ukrainian Ethnic Group sampled many different brands of perogies and, in the end, they chose Pearl's Perogies as the best. Pearl's had the opportunity to put their product to the ultimate test by feeding thousands of hungry visitors, with extremely high expectations. The Ukrainian Ethnic Group commended Pearl's on their consistently high quality and authentic homemade taste.
